James Bicigo
Trombone, Low Brass

James Bicigo earned the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Trombone Performance from Michigan State University. His master of Music Degree in Music Education is from Western Michigan University and his Bachelor of Music Degree in Trombone Performance and Music Education (with distinction) is from The University of Michigan. James Bicigo is a Yamaha Performing Artist on trombone and is an internationally active soloist and clinician. His performances of the music of Katia Tiutiunnik have been broadcast internationally on programs such as New Music Australia, and Eine Kleine Frauen Musik. He has appeared professionally in recital at major universities in Arkansas, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin. Most recently, he appeared as a clinician at the 2014 International Trombone Festival, a recitalist at the 2013 International Trombone Festival and a recitalist at the 2012 International Women's Brass Conference. He appeared with a professional brass choir at the International Alliance of Women in Music Congress at Northern Arizona University in 2012 where he also taught several lessons in the NAU trombone studio. 

With Borealis Brass, Dr. Bicigo has performed in Puerto Rico, Malaysia, Australia, Italy, Japan, Canada and across the United States. Dr. Bicigo is a noted advocate of women in music and has been responsible for the commissioning, performing and recording several new works for trombone, tuba and other brass instruments and ensembles by women composers.
