There are many scholarship opportunities for music students at UAF. The first step in the scholarship process is to visit the UAF Financial Aid website and begin the paperwork process. If you have questions prior to applying contact the Music Office.
Department of Music Scholarships
The following scholarships are available to music majors during each academic year. Awards are made in late spring for the following academic year. Read carefully, as the requirements for each award differ.
Lesley Salisbury Music Scholarship
Eligibility: 2.0 GPA; Promising music student; Full-time only.
Glenmede Trust Music Scholarship
Eligibility: 2.0 GPA; Majoring in music, preferably stringed instrument; Full-time only.
Gale L. Anderson Endowed Scholarship for Music
Eligibility: 3.0 GPA; Majoring in music; Full or part-time.
Tom and Nancy Hallinan Music Scholarship
Eligibility: 2.0 GPA; Majoring in music.
Fejes Music Scholarship
Eligibility: 2.0 GPA; Part or full-time; Demonstrating motivation, potential and/or leadership.
Edward K. andAlene R.Christiansen Music Scholarship
Eligibility: 2.0 GPA; Junior or Senior music student; Full time; Preference Music Education; Demonstrating motivation, strong academics and/or leadership.
Warren G. Brown Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility: 2.0 GPA; Soph./Jr./Sr./Grad; Financial need.
Pearl Berry Boyd Music Scholarship
Eligibility: 2.0 GPA; Undergrad or grad; Full time; Demonstrating motivation, strong academics and/or leadership.
Eligibility: 2.0 GPA; Incoming Freshman; Audition or live audition required.

There are two possible pathways to complete the application process:
1. Complete an application online at the UAF Foundation website by February 15th, www.alaska.edu/foundation. Call 907-450-8030 for more information.
2. Complete a Scholarship Application Form by March 15th, available from the Department of Music or online at the Department of Music website under Forms. Also include: two letters of recommendation, at least one from a music teacher and a CD, DVD or online music link that includes two contrasting works which display the applicant’s technical and musical abilities.

Fairbanks Symphony Award
The Fairbanks Symphony Association also provides a limited number of awards for participants in the Symphony. Student instrumentalists interested in applying for these awards must be a full-time student, but not necessarily a Music Major, and must be accepted in the Fairbanks Symphony. Please submit a Scholarship Application Form, two letters of recommendation, at least one from a music teacher, and a CD, DVD or online music link that includes two contrasting works to the address below. The application deadline is April 15th:

William and Dorothy Wood Talent Grant

Alaska Student Loan Program
These loans are restricted to applicants who have been Alaska residents for at least two years immediately prior to applying. For further information and application forms, contact:
